Why do I have to get car insurance ?

What types of car insurance are there?

There are two main types of car insurance in Thailand: compulsory car insurance and voluntary auto insurance. Compulsory car insurance is what we know as the Automobile Act, which mainly protects third parties which we must have, if not, it will be illegal. Yet, Voluntary Auto Insurance is optional, but in fact it is necessary because it can protect cars, family members, including others in the event of a collision.
